Why in-house

Candidates want to hear from you, not a third party.

However few days you choose, candidates hear from you directly, so your business stands out, and every advert and search builds your company's name.

People who aren't looking for a new job are far more open to a conversation when the approach comes from the employer itself. That builds real relationships with people who'll think of you first when they're ready to move.

48%
of candidates have been ghosted after an interview

Clear adverts, quick responses and honest feedback: that's what an Embedded Talent Partner brings.

The problem

Great hires change everything.

Every hire shapes your business. Getting it right takes time, local knowledge and a process candidates enjoy, but for most businesses, there isn't enough hiring to justify a full-time recruiter.

Recruitment will happen in your business whether you plan for it or not. Even businesses with no plans to grow lose people every year: look back over the past twelve months and the need is usually greater than it first appears. You can't foresee every vacancy, but you can anticipate many of them, and with dedicated support, even two days a month, you're prepared before they arrive.

You may benefit from an Embedded Talent Partner if:

Recruitment is taking up too much management time
Roles stay open for too long
You'd like more control over your recruitment and what it costs
Your hiring managers need more support with interviewing and selection

Already have HR or a talent team? I work alongside them, adding hands-on capacity rather than competing.

Experience

Specialist experience where it counts.

Over the past few years in-house, I've recruited for an exceptionally wide range of roles, across every part of a business. Local knowledge matters: I know the area, its employers and what attracts good people to them.

One recruiter who knows your business, for every role you hire.

Industries

Roles I recruit for

Engineering & technical
CNC machinists
Quality
Supply chain & procurement
Maintenance
Logistics & operations
Planning & material control
Programme & contract management
Sales, finance, HR & admin

This is where most of my recent experience lies, but over 30 years I've recruited across many other sectors too, including construction and agriculture. Whatever you're hiring for, let's talk.

I focus on skilled, technical and specialist roles where getting the right person matters most, rather than high-volume recruitment.

Getting started

Try it first.

I'll recruit your first vacancy on a fixed fee, paid only if I'm successful. If it works for you, we agree a monthly package that suits your hiring.

I work with a small number of businesses at a time, so each one gets my full attention.

Case study

Quality hires, lower costs, and a process the business owns.

The business: a fast-growing FinTech software company, hiring technical and specialist roles during the COVID-19 pandemic and relying on agencies to do it.

What I did: as their in-house recruiter, I brought recruitment in-house. I worked closely with hiring managers to agree exactly what each role needed, and sourced candidates directly, including people who weren't actively looking. I introduced a new HR system to bring hiring data into one place, and put structured onboarding in place for new starters.

The result:

A significant saving in agency fees
More efficient recruitment, with clear data on every vacancy
Structured onboarding that improved new starters' early engagement
50 technical and specialist hires in just over six months

What people say

From people I've worked with.

“Before Lorraine joined, I was handling our recruitment myself alongside my day job, and relying heavily on agencies. As our in-house recruiter, she brought the sourcing of the right candidates, and the costs that came with it, under control. She recruited during a period of rapid growth and cut our agency spend significantly. She also introduced a structured onboarding process that really helped new starters settle in, which made a big difference in a fully remote business where people can easily feel disconnected.”

Barbara, former Business Manager, SaaS FinTech software company

“I still maintain Lorraine is the best recruiter I've ever dealt with, and I don't say that lightly. She recruited planner/buyers and supply chain leads for my team, and she took the time to understand exactly what each role needed and the kind of people who would fit in. She was always responsive and kept things moving quickly, so good candidates didn't slip away.”

Heidi, former Site Supply Chain Manager, aerospace and defence manufacturer
